Future Forward 2026, crisscross explores the connection between humans and the environment with special consideration to how one's environment impacts their memory and thus lived experience. In this fourth annual curated exhibition, artists probe the entanglement of environment and memory; the crisscross. Approaching memory and environment as a double helix; constantly colliding, flowing and informing one another. This interwoven nature is ever present and foundational. The tapestry of recall and spatial senses is exemplified via projection, video, bookarts, photo, sculpture and more. Media grounded in histories of function and immersion which parallel that of the Duwamish Valley’s industry backdropped by lush greenery. Works employ graphic styles, natural matter, architectural motifs, historic catalogs and slice of life imagery, collectively building a narrative which speaks to the perpetual give and take imbued in human nature.
